Beckett Ace was born at 7:34PM via c-section. He is 8 pounds, 10 ounces and 21 inches long. He is moving constantly, not crying much, sucking on his fingers, trying to roll over, and has already figured out how to escape a swaddle! He is adorable, I am told, with a fair amount of blond hair. Wes said that he looks quite big to him, especially compared to their first son, GMB when he was born. Did I mention that Beckett is rumored to be absolutely adorable? Yes indeed.
Bri is doing well, considering she just had surgery. She did fine during the c-section and then threw up some bile afterward. Her sister is with her in recovery, while Wes is with Beckett (in the nursery, I assume). Wes didn't say, but I'm assuming that once they get Bri out of recovery and into a room, Beckett will stay in her room. Wes said that he didn't get a chance to snap a picture of Beckett being pulled out but got lots and lots of him shortly thereafter. He said that things happened so quickly and that he was trying to comfort Bri, so he kind of missed the pulling out of Beckett. Anyone who has been through a c-section can probably directly relate to this. It is very quick- in the first few minutes of the procedure is when they pull the baby out, and the rest of the time is spent getting the placenta, checking on the uterus, and closing up, I think. There is not much time to adjust to what is going on, and before you know it the baby is there. Bri did have some sort of contact with the baby (the details are fuzzy here). Wes said she mostly wanted to just make sure he was okay and other than that was concentrating on just getting through the procedure. Again, c-section folks, sounds familiar, right? Daddy Wes got to hold the baby lots. I am sure both Bri and Wes will enjoy their time with Beckett back in their own room.
What else can I tell you? After the c-sec, Bri felt very happy to not be pregnant anymore (hallelujah!) but was pretty upset when she asked if she could eat tonight and the staff told her she probably won't want to. I don't know, maybe this has to do with the effects of the anesthesia? (I remember eating lots a few hours after my c-sec, so I'm not sure what's going on in her case.) Anyway, she apparently has been dreaming of a Subw@y sub for a long time now, and there happens to be one across the street from our hospital. I say, give the woman her damn sub! Don't you think she's earned it???
I don't have any pictures to share, but at the very least I'm going to ask if I can visit tomorrow evening. If I do, I'll take a picture while I'm there and post it. But maybe someone else will be able to beat me to it first.
Congratulations, Bri and Wes. You did it. Your sweet boy , your second son, is here. It gives me so much joy to think of the love you will share with Beckett as the years unfold.
